COYOLXAUHQUI: Daughter of COATLICUE I always get her mixed up with Hoogalumpawamwam.... she was the one that was into Mazola oil, scuba flippers and baby snakes. A ball of feathers isn't so bad... as long as they aren't still attached to the chicken. |

Oh My! Wonder what she did with the ball of feathers? Nothing compared to what she did with the balls of squirrels. |

The legend tells that Coatlique (mother of Coyolxauhqui) became pregnant when a feather landed in her belly. Coyolxauhqui and her siblings decided to murder her mother for the infamy in which they will all have to live, since nobody would buy that story... When they were about to assassin Coatlique, Huitzilopochtli instantly left her mother's womb, with full armor and his maquahuitl(wooden sword with obsidian sides) and dismembered Coyolxauhqui (that's why she seems all dismembered in the stone statue)... She would then become the goddess of the moon. Huitzilopochtli (humming bird from the south) would then become the Sun, and the god of war, main god of the mexicas. Coatlique = literally "her skirt is of snakes" |

Nope... worshipping involved human sacrifices, of children, warriors, virgins... At least not the way they used.. However, when spaniards "saved us" (yeah right) and they brought Christianity, people hid little statues in churches, and kept worshipping some of those gods. Today, however, I don't think that's the case, but that's just me... |

Oh and by the way, that is a sculpture of 3.25 m of diameter. Hope you enjoy it. I'll show you guys what I'm doing in a few days, perhaps tomorrow. |

It takes skin to win (or stone?) This is the voice of world control. I bring you peace. It may be the peace of plenty and content or the peace of unburied dead. The choice is yours. |

And here's what I'd promised: It is a gift, for my girlfriend, since her name is that of a Moon-goddess (she told me, I don't know for sure). Coyolxauhqui is the moon-goddess of the Mexica/Aztec and other prehispanic cultures. The real sculpture is 3.5 mts in diameter. Mine is about 80cms in diameter, but still it was HUGE... But hey, I loved doing this... See you around! PS: I'll post a pic or two when the cast dries up. |

The calendar and the sculpture are both gorgeous, Megaman. Looking forward to pics of the casting. Thanks for sharing. :) |

Why is it that when I read out loud the title of this thread I get the urge to hock up a phlegm loogie and let it rip? -Mr. anon |
