We just had a national election here in Norway, and the new red-green government coalition have announced that they're going to full-finance cleaning of CO2 from a new nature gas power plant, which is not yet built. It'll cost them (us) about a billion dollars. This cleaning system will reduce the CO2 pollution to (about) zero from this plant. They've also decided to partly finance other, similar, plants built in the future, and these plants must also have zero CO2 pollution.

I think it's a good decision (altough I didn't vote for them). My country can certainly afford it. We have more than $155 billion saved in "the bank" and the number is increasing fast. What is a billion or four if we can avoid throwing more logs into the fire? Even if we don't agree that the fire is human made, why risk anything more?

Actually, they weren't really around when I bought my current car but I have been considering getting one. It would probably make very good economic sense for me as I don't drive much. I should really upgrade my old banger because newer cars are more efficient.

But you haven't. And along the same note, can you tell me why every gov't that voted for Kyoto doesn't run every single vehicle they own, car, limo, bus, train, tank, et cetera, on natural gas?

Still. You can't beat pedal power for efficiency and economy. I think I'll stick to my trusty bike.

More power to you. I spent eight weeks in London this past summer, and I loved it. I lived just off Marylebone High street between Great Portland and Oxford Circus. Though I'm sure I would have been kilt on a bike. Heh.

These things take time I suppose. The UK government has a couple of hybrid cars in its fleet and I beleive there are plans to get more.

The mayor of London has improved cycle routes throughout London so it is safer than it was. And at least your bike isn't likely to get blown up like the buses or tubes. Also, on the tubes you run the risk of being shot by the police in the head if you look a bit foreign.

I meant to ask you why you think physicists wouldn't know anything about climatology seeing as climatology is physics? Or were you just taking a pop at me because I have a physics degree?

They don't do it now because it's expensive. It isn't economically viable. Just as for many people the hybrids aren't.

Good ole Red Ken. Hey, about economics, who do you think that the now 8 pound Congestion Charge affects most? Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson or those guys that sweep the street?

Pfffft. There were millions of people in London that looked quite a bit foreign, and I didn't see any getting shot in the head. Well, that one guy, but that was heat of the moment, and the odds are still way in your favor...

I meant to ask you why you think physicists wouldn't know anything about climatology seeing as climatology is physics? Or were you just taking a pop at me because I have a physics degree?

How would I know if you have a physics degree? Or did you say that and I missed it? But no, someone was commenting that since some non-descript group of scientists said something, we should all buy into it. I was making the point that just because a person is a scientist in one discipline, that doesn't mean that they have expertise in other disciplines.

Isn't everything physics? Heh.

I should have made clear, that it wasn't the cycle routes, it was the looking the wrong way that would have likely ended up in my death.

Not from one of the Smart Cars, but from one of those taxis...

Punk ass Wilma.

Hey, think she'll help spur Cuba's economic development.

And yes, that's a joke...
