Blkjack-21 said I recently set up my 2nd computer for BOINC and I have 3 computers and a router running full time. They all crunch for BOINC. In addition one is my email server,SMTP in and out and IMAP to my users. It also keeps track of any changes to my dynamic IP and notifies the DNS servers of any changes. In addition it is connected to two printers and handles print spooling. My Linux box runs SAMBA and is the WINS server for my network as there are no fees to be paid to MS this way. It also runs Apache and is the web server for my home page. No matter what box I am at or what browser I am using/testing I have all my favorite bookmarks available. I am going to add PHP and MySQL soon, so it will have a little more to do. The third is my laptop connected by wireless and where I do most of my work and sometimes play Neverwinter Nights. I call this a small home network. It is also connected to the Internet full time with DSL, so I am a node on the biggest network available. I also call it a lot of fun which is the main purpose to it all. Have fun and keep crunching, David David Stites Pullman, WA USA |

So you want to talk about farms? Check out the third pic (the machine room): The First Pangalactic BOINC Workshop From this thread in LHC@Home: Boinc workshop at CERN As I said in that thread: Not so much a farm as an agricultural society! Join TeamACC Sometimes I think we are alone in the universe, and sometimes I think we are not. In either case the idea is quite staggering. |
