I have been running SETI@home from August 1999 to the present time. During this time our personal statistics told us how many PC's were being used worldwide. I found this very interesting to know how many people were interested in finding ET. In August 1999 there were 1,133,740 participants and in April 2005 there were a staggering 5,420,225 !! (I've kept a spreadsheet for the whole period). Not only are these figures no longer given but we have no idea what position in the sky the signal is coming from or if signals are still coming from the Aricibo radio telescope. ?? |

due to enhanced computer effiency...in the future far fewer computers will be required to crunch data for SETI...that is likely part of the reason why many of the people behind the original SETI distributive computing program are helping to enable participation in distributive computing for other scientific studies...the game has changed...the game has grown...if you are interested in helping out in the advancement of science there are more opportunities than ever...and you can do it all...at home. PROUD TO BE TFFE! |

To see the location of WUs in the sky use one of the add-ons that can show this. I use BoincLogX in conjunction with seti@home map view. Both of these are avaliable for free at: Björn's freeware |
