"In the province of the mind, what one believes to be true is true or becomes true within certain limits to be found experientially and experimentally. These limits are further beliefs to be transcended. In the mind there are no limits."

"To this there also belongs the faith in the possibility that the regulations valid for the world of existence are rational, that is, comprehensible to reason. I cannot conceive of a genuine scientist without that profound faith. The situation may be expressed by an image: science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind."

TAKEN: The epic miniseries (science fiction)
Taken is an epic saga that weaves together the stories of three families over multiple generations — and their crucial roles in the history of alien abductions. Set against the backdrop of actual historical events, Taken creates a powerfully emotional and evocative tale of mankind's encounters with extraterrestrials.

Left Behind: The Movie (religious fiction)
In one chaotic moment, millions or people around the world suddenly disappear. Mass confusion hits while vehicles suddenly unmanned veer out of control, fires erupt and hysteria breaks out as the living stare in disbelief and fear at the empty places where their loved ones were just seconds before. This is the rapture, the first sign to begin the unraveling of the end of time.

Mark 4 : (KJV)
10 And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable.
11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:
12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.
13 And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?

Parable, the term translates the Hebrew word "mashal" –a term denoting a metaphor, or an enigmatic saying or an analogy. In the Greco-Roman rhetorical tradition, however, "parables" were illustrative narrative examples.

"Problem solving is a complex behavior that requires a network of cortical areas for all types of solving strategies and solutions, so solving problems with and without insight likely invokes many shared cognitive processes and neural mechanisms. One critical cognitive process distinguishing insight solutions from noninsight solutions is that solving with insight requires solvers to recognize distant or novel semantic (or associative) relations; hence, insight-specific neural activity should reflect that process."

"As far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain, and as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality....The most beautiful emotion we can experience is the mystical [mysterious]. It is the power of all true art and science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead. To know that what is impenetrable to us really exists, manifesting itself as the highest wisdom and the most radiant beauty, which our dull faculties can comprehend only in their most primitive forms - this knowledge, this feeling, is at the center of true religiousness. In this sense, and in this sense only, I belong to the rank of devoutly religious men..."

"A human being is part of a whole, called by us the "Universe," a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest - a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."

The Gospel According to Mary - Chapter 4
...Will matter then be destroyed or not?
22) The Savior said, All nature, all formations, all creatures exist in and with one another, and they will be resolved again into their own roots.
23) For the nature of matter is resolved into the roots of its own nature alone.
24) He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
…
30) Matter gave birth to a passion that has no equal, which proceeded from something contrary to nature. Then there arises a disturbance in its whole body.
31) That is why I said to you, Be of good courage, and if you are discouraged be encouraged in the presence of the different forms of nature.
32) He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

"It seems that Einstein did not make a blunder after all -- dark energy appears to exist and to dominate over more conventional types of matter," Efstathiou said. “The surface of the Earth is the shore of the cosmic ocean. On this shore we’ve learned most of what we know. Recently, we’ve waded a little way out, maybe ankle-deep, and the water seems inviting. Some part of our being knows this is where we came from. We long to return. And we can’t, because the cosmos is also within us. We’re "made" of star stuff. We are a way that the cosmos can know itself. The journey for each of us begins here.”

It's interesting to me that in a thread which concerns a television program about extraterrestrial visitation, found in a forum which invites open and free exchange on such topics, on a website associated with a project whose primary purpose is to find order in seemingly random patterns and consequently discover extraterrestrial intelligence, I should find several individuals who appear disinterested, even hostile to a form of communication that strays from their comfortable expectations.

Siran t' T'Khasi as your choice of animations might suggest, is it your intention to murder peaceful and communicative visitors if/when they arrive? Perhaps you reserve such animosity only for your fellow man?

It's too bad you couldn't explain your intent and opinion in your first post and much of this could have been avoided. I may not be on your intellectual level here but simply cutting and pasting what appeared to be random quotes told me nothing. It appearently told others nothing as well. When your first response was replied to with a "HUH?", again you could have expressed your opinion/intent but instead we got another post of seemingly random quotes and later a third post of random quotes leaving many of us scratching our heads trying to figure out what your trying to get across.

I have no problems with other points of view from my "comfortable expectations" but I'd at least like to be able to place that view point with my expectation so I can examine the two instead of playing head games trying to figure out what your trying to get across. Just because the program in question in Ulli's post was one view, it doesn't automatically mean the rest of the world knows or understands what your trying to say when you just randomly cut and paste quotes in a post. A little explanation does wonders.
