BOINC says "no work available"

I've just downloaded and installed BOINC but when it went out to find some work to do it returned the message "no work available". I finally succumbed to this beast of a program because my 3.08 Seti had crashed. But if it continues to be this obtuse, difficult to use and non-functional I'll switch back. Well, I just uninstalled it and will continue to use the old one, which I'll download and reinstall.
