Two computers, both running XP, on is 18 mons old the other is 4 mons old. Neither will run this new software. Not a programer, but fairly 'puter literate, so why won't this new stuff work? GIVE ME BACK MY CLASSIC! At least it worked. |

Hello and welcome Lockesmith, The (very good) manual for Boinc is the BoincWiki by Pall D. Buck and Friends. A quick installation guide in this is here. For information regarding Credits look here! Gruesse vom Saenger For questions about Boinc look in the BOINC-Wiki |

Hello and welcome Lockesmith, Gotta tell you, this is no help at all. I have read the manuals. I have done the install, it just will not work. *throws self on floor kicking and screaming* Okay, better now. From what I have read on the forum, I am not the only one with this problem. My next question is: What is Seti doing to help those of us who have supported the project for so long? |

Gotta tell you, this is no help at all. I have read the manuals. I have done the Sorry, didn't want to annoy you. Boinc is running fine, as all the other projects run fine, but Seti has problems. They have severe server problems in Berkeley. I think it's partly because of the transition, and that they have to serve two projects (ClassicSeti and BoincSeti) and with the equipment (and staff) for one. I hope they shut down Classic fast, so that they can concentrate on the current setup. |

Gotta tell you, this is no help at all. I have read the manuals. I have done the Hey, you did not annoy me. You are trying to help. The tantrum is because I can't make this stuff work. It should be easy, but it isn't. Personally, I think if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Seti should go back to what worked and leave the Boinc alone until they can make it work with their server. Meanwhile, since I have been to all the sites you gave me in the first post (in Feb and just now, in case I had missed something), have any other ideas where I might get help? |

Meanwhile, since I have been to all the sites you gave me in the first post (in Feb and just now, in case I had missed something), have any other ideas where I might get help? You could post whatever it is you are having trouble with here on the fora. We will try to help. |

Gotta tell you, this is no help at all. I have read the manuals. I have done the Lockesmith, You should provide more information what the problem is. Nobody can help you if you state vaguely that it "does not work". Specifics, like platform (operating system) you are running, boinc version, seti version, what does not work (like does not install, does not find servers, etc. etc. Right now, the servers are buckling due to some technical issues, so it may be that you just have to be patient. There are many people that can set you on the right track, but specific details are needed. |
