Does anyone else other than me and Fuzzy Logic think that Boinc is a step forward. i mean obviously its going to have a few teething troubles but the new screen saver looks great and the flexible running options make life much easier. Especially the option about running on batteries (or not) means i can run it on my laptop and the download enough for ten days makes a nice change as well. The server problems at Berkely will hopefully settle down once we're all on Boinc and classic is taken out of the way. Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

BOINC is one of the reasons why I left Classic. I left so that I could (if I wanted to) also crunch for other Distributed Computing projects of my choice easily, and all in just the one application aswell. There are loads of worthwhile projects out there, have a look at these: Active Projects and Upcoming Projects Join TeamACC Sometimes I think we are alone in the universe, and sometimes I think we are not. In either case the idea is quite staggering. |

I believe BOINC is superior to classic in almost every way. Sure, there are still some warts, but nothing like this has been done before, so growing pains are to be expected. Yes, it's different, but it is by no means difficult to use. The simple fact that I can run multiple DC project from a single GUI is a major plus. I started running BOINC during beta around two years ago. I haven't run classic since. |
