So my machine crashed, bigtime, and I've had to reformat the hard drive. Lost the lot, of course, but had all data copied, so no major trauma. Except that I lost Seti@home. So I want to download it again. So I go to the SETI site. WHERE IS IT? I'm invited, or rather forced, to download a programme that sounds like a child's toy, that I don't want, don't understand, but rather hoped it might restore the only screensaver that I have known and loved for many, many years. I'm not interested in credits, or scores, but I have taken an interest in what happens and I could probably bore someone stupid for several hours with explanations of FFT's, triplets and Pulses. All this thing seems to do is ask for work units that I cannot run, and being told that no schedulers responded. WHERE IS THE PROGRAMME?? It now tells me that it is detaching from the project. Just as well, as I was about to uninstall it. I WANT MY SETI BACK. |

For vrious reasons, S@H is replacing the classic version with a version that runs under BOINC. At the moment, you have the option of running either, but in a month or two, I expect that you will not be able to run classic anymore. It is too bad tht you are trying to migrate during the current server difficulties. (One of the servers is throwing a fit about the load it is being asked to carry). BOINC WIKI |
