in my radio career i have interviewed famous personalities...most of them musicians or politicians...but none of that gave me any more than local fame...(btw FUZZY...i'm one of those creepy local personalities...minus the ego trip!)...i mostly keep a low profile when i'm not on the air...but there were two times i had a little taste of the big time...the first when CNN visited my station to do a story on BILL CLINTON...i shared the studio with CNN news correspondent FRANK SESNO...and appeared for a moment or two on CNN...a couple years later NBC NEWS came to town...and correspondent MIKE BOETTCHER was on-air with me...and i appeared on national television for a moment or two then as well...but my favorite celebrity moment was when i was in college...i got to interview professional body builder LOU FERRIGNO...who was then starring as THE HULK on the INCREDIBLE HULK...after the interview was done he picked me up and held me in the air to prove how strong he really was...he was the coolest celebrity i ever met! Ah ha, groupies, now that's what I'm talking about. I've never had any, but I'm willing to start :) Join TeamACC Sometimes I think we are alone in the universe, and sometimes I think we are not. In either case the idea is quite staggering. |

When my brother was in junior school back in the mid 1980's, Geoff Capes (then 'Britain's Strongest Man') came to his school, and he managed to get a signed photograph, which he still has somewhere. Talking of bodyguards... I once went to a Drum And Bass concert in my town where DJ Goldie was playing. I was walking up a short flight of steps from the dance floor to the bar to get some more beer at just the same moment that Goldie was coming on to do his set. I can only presume that the flight of steps wasn't big enough for the four of us as I got shoved out of the way. It was me, Goldie and two bodyguards/hangers-on Goldie's set was very good though. Come to think of it (hasn't Goldie been in some Hollywood movies?) Join TeamACC Sometimes I think we are alone in the universe, and sometimes I think we are not. When I was in the Military I got to brief Commadore Grace Hopper AKA The Mother of COBOL. After I got out I stood toe to toe with Jack Welsh (CEO GE) and won a major contract with GE for Data General Thanks for the link, a good read. I decided to do a search and got this Was the first computer 'bug' a real insect?: The story is told that one of the early electromechanical computers suffered a failure because a hapless insect had crawled into the vitals of the machine and been squashed between the contacts of a relay. The incident was written up in the log-book and spread from there throughout the whole of the infant computer industry. However, although the account seems to be genuine, the word is older: the event was recorded as an amusement for posterity precisely because the term 'bug' was already in use. The term in fact originates not with computer pioneers, but with engineers of a much earlier generation. The first example cited in the Oxford English Dictionary is from the Pall Mall Gazette of 11 March 1889: Mr. Edison, I was informed, had been up the two previous nights discovering 'a bug' in his phonograph - an expression for solving a difficulty, and implying that some imaginary insect has secreted itself inside and is causing all the trouble. Once - I was close to become almost famous. I prefer to call it "almost almost famous" :) Making music on the computer, spreading it in cyberspace. I was totally unknown, but somehow managed to get fan e-mails anyway in my active period 1994-98, got a couple of great reviews on traxinspace.com (which unfortunately disappeared before I thought of copying the reviews) and was even chosen as Artist of the Day and had a song ranked at #18 on their charts. Although I don't even remember the name of the game, I guess the biggest accomplishment was when I got one of my songs feature in a pc game (some sort of detective game). But, as it only amounts to being almost almost famous I don't think it counts :) |

It most definately does count, can you remember what the song was called? It might be possible to do a google search for it. Or even search on Internet Archive or Wayback Machine. I was in a magazine (Chatelaine in Canada) as the model to go with an article on proper nutrition for kids (I was about 6 at the time). I've also been in the local newspaper twice (at my school's fun fair and for winning the W5H competition)... good times. But not famous. |

Maybe some day I'll think of the name of the game. But the name of the song was 'The eleventh hour' - you had to play the game and get to a certain point for the song to be played (I never got the hang of the game, but did succeed hearing my own song in it :)) I called myself Lionheart at the time |

I was in a high school band that once held the world record for the longest continuous rehearsal. I also had the distinct honor of interviewing Robert Truax for a piece in a local paper. Well I've had a listen, it is very good, certainly far better than any of the efforts that I've done by messing around with the computer. I was a DJ/Host and Engineer at a radio station for three years. Well you never know. You'll be surprised at what some people listen to. I had a phase once of tuning into English-language broadcasts of foreign Radio Stations for a while. What was the name of the station, what was your on-air name? GOTCHA !!! I knew I'd catch someone :) "Oakland Underground"... I hope you weren't playing the part of Satan, though your avatar is suspiciously red. ...Lebofsky, Lebofsky, Lebofsky, and Lebofsky, I like that. I don't know how the pink hair was for you, but I once dyed my hair Poppy Red - it didn't look good. ...The run-ins with famous people... do count as it makes you famous by association. :) Join TeamACC Sometimes I think we are alone in the universe, and sometimes I think we are not. Well I've had a listen, it is very good, certainly far better than any of the efforts that I've done by messing around with the computer. Thanks :) It's the best I've done in that genre - Eventful rising, which was the one that reached the #18 on the charts, is much better imo, but also a different genre ;) BTW I totally forgot that I once was friends with, what turned out to be an ex-girlfriend of King Diamond *lol* |

Got an idea, why don't the all the musicians among us put our heads together to try and put something together which reflects what we are all trying to do? Regards Tony I may be getting older but I refuse to grow up! |
