Hey all,

I have a problem. I am able to upload easy enough but i have about 20 WU's to report and BOINC says master file fetch failed.

Could any1 help me with this error or otherwise the deadline will be here soon and all the work will be lost.

Thanks

Morning, If you're using the new core client 4.38, then you're in the same boat as the rest of us. There's a bug preventing the "Manual Project Update" from reporting the work. JM7 has identified and bug and it should be fixed in the next release (hopefully really soon). JM7 also says that it should automatically report work about 24 hours prior to the deadline, but I'm using dial up, so I'll just have to wait for the updated client.

does this apply to you?

Master file fetch failed, generally, means you're not connected to the Internet. Maybe you lost connection after uploading, but before reporting.

tony

You could do a key word search for Master File and read what's already been said about this message. or you could go to Pauls website, and look it up.

Thanks for the reply. Im also on dial up but im using ver 4.36. The problem i was having before this one is that the sheduler wasn't responding. This is happening on my work pc but my 2 pc's at home are updating, downloading and uploading fine. I've disabled all firewalls and anything else that would prevent it updating but to no avail. The setup at work is exactly the same as the one at home.

Either way, like you say, i'll just have to wait for the updated client.

Thanks for the help.

One of the problems you can get into is that the PC retains old routing tables and you don't get the correct routes to the computers on the Internet. This, in my case, happens at home. If you can locate the SETI@Home web site with your browser it "should" work.

If you can you might want to reset the routers at work so they download new routing tables ... if you can't, they should "fix" themselves in a couple of days ...

ok. I've backtracked to ver 4.25 and reset the routers. no more "MasterFile Fetch Failed" message anymore but I still can't get a response from the scheduler at work but my home pc's are working like a dream. I've tried pretty much everything I can think of. Any other ideas?
