I am a complete, and utter newbie with Linux period. But I would really like to get BOINC S@H up and running under Suse Pro 9.2. If anyone can help, or point me to a very well written How-To, I would very much appreciate it. Thank you in advance, RPMurphy |

<blockquote>have you found BOINC's HOWTO? http://boinc.berkeley.edu/bare_core.php</blockquote> Yes, and I followed the following instructions to the letter except changed the string at end to be my account number. "Use gunzip to uncompress the file if your browser has not done it for you. chmod +x the executable. put the executable into a separate directory (say, boinc/). run the executable. The first time you run it you'll need to attach it to a project, e.g.: boinc_client -attach_project http://setiathome.berkeley.edu df0d93e384a2700f70e0bc45a1b2c96c" |

Not running as a process, or anything as far as I can tell. And is not showing as another computer under my account. Completely clueless here. It is a sad sad day when someone takes your spoon away from you... |

<blockquote><blockquote>have you found BOINC's HOWTO? are there any status or error messages? in the boinc directory there should be the subdirectories projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu inside there is where the work units and seti executable should have been automatically downloaded. if it is running, run 'top' from the command prompt and the setiathome-4.xx executable should be at the top of the list of running programs |
