I have a linux set up and have down loaded BOINC. When I start the client it doesnt like the URLhttp://setiathome.berkeley.edu
and my account key. Does linux require a different account? My original account is all windows based OS.

That URL points to the classic SETI@home. Try http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/ instead.

I used the url and key from my original SETI BOINC email, but I recall having a problem with cutting and pasting the url. If I highlighted the url in the email, I couldn't keep from putting a blank space in front of it. If I right clicked the url and selected "copy link location", I could paste it into Konsole just fine.

Hello Pam How is your Computer doing? What kinds of times are you getting per wu. I have been having a heck of a time getting BOINC going its up and running on linux. Linux is alot different. I dont know how to make the Boinc addons for linux to work. So I can see progress. Have you found a way. I would like to know how if you have.

Hello, Everette. I think the Computer is doing great. I got 9895 sec average with the standard BOINC client and 8520 sec average with a Linux client optimized for AMD Athlon 64.

I don't have any add ons now, I just go to my profile pages and look at the results for this computer. I leave Konsole on all the time, so I don't know yet how to make BOINC run at start up. I have seen people discuss how to do this, but is it over my head right now. I ordered the latest edition of Linux for Dummies, so I can understand what people are talking about. Linux is a whole new world. Every time I get something to work, I save the control panel text, so I can look at it and do it again.

My Linux triumphs are: downloading BOINC and getting it to work (Thanks to TABWebmaster's instructions), attaching to a second project and updating preferences.

My Linux failure is not having the wireless PCI card work. Either I will have to figure this out or buy a router with more lan ports before I add another computer.

Pam
