yesterday 27/04/05 at 17:00 UTC i returned 5 results. According to BOINC they transmitted OK. but 4 of the 5 are still showing 'outcome unknown'. they are <a>http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=13284368 <a>http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=13284352 <a>http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=13284340 <a>http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=13284377 Does anyone know why this might be? My pc is 655788. Foamy is "Lord and Master". (Oh, + some Classic WUs too.) |

If so you have only completed the first part of the process. The first part is telling one computer you have sucessfully completed the unit and don't send it back out again. The second part is telling a second computer what the results of your crunching are, that happens automatically everytime your computer gets new units, it returns the completed ones and gets new units to crunch. |

Have you run an 'Update Project' recently? |

They now all show as recieved, with an upload date/time of 28/04/05 16:09 UTC. That is 24 hours after they were uploaded. Strange that one should gain credit immidiatly, and the remaining 4 not show as submitted for 24 hours. I just sent in another 7 results on 28-4-5 @ 17:10 (14:10 UTC), and have gained credit for them. I get credit for 4 result a day late, and credit for todays 7 as soon as they were sent in. I assume that the relevent servers failed to process my yesterdays results untill 'prodded' back into action by the arrival of todays results. At least I have had the credit. I am not worried it is late. I was mostly worried that it was not going to arrive at all. Foamy is "Lord and Master". (Oh, + some Classic WUs too.) |

What time zone are you in? 1410UTC was about two hours ago. (added) There are two steps to the upload process. Step one is to upload the results. Step two is to "report" the upload. Until the result is reported the system does not know that the result has been uploaded. The uploaded result is reported as uploaded the next time your computer requests more workunits or you do a manual update. |

having a similar problem. sent 4 WUs back on to base yesterday, still not even registered that they have been sent! they were all at 100%, have 'updated project' and still nothing. not in this for the credit (as you can see from my stats!) but it seems pointless doing the work if it is then going to disappear into thin air... *** Nothing is impossible <img border="0" src="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/one/stats.php?userID=1508&trans=off" /> |

The (very good) manual for Boinc is the BOINC Powered Projects Documentation by Paul D. Buck and the FAQ therein. For information regarding Credits look here! The process of getting it all to Berkeley is a two step operation. Look here and here @Pauls ;) Gruesse vom Saenger For questions about Boinc look in the BOINC-Wiki |

Well, for some reason, BOINC doesn't do both of those steps in one shot. It does one, and then a day later (or whatever your settings are) it does two. I am guessing it's a bandwidth saving feature (not sure how it saves bandwidth though). It's not a big deal except when you want to take a certain machine offline permanently. I have to wait an extra day or two AFTER all the results have been uploaded to make sure step 2 got completed. I've tried manual updates, and sometimes (alot of times), BOINC refuses to manual update until the aloted time has actually really passed. Jimmy |

Each RPC causes the server to do some DB queries. Some of these can be combined into one. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |

at least they are showing as 'done'. if you look here http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/results.php?userid=8079081 you will see that there are 4 results that have apparently not been returned, even though i have done some after them. They WERE processed by my computer, they WERE returned by my computer but they seem to have disappeared into cyber space... *** Nothing is impossible <img border="0" src="http://boinc.mundayweb.com/one/stats.php?userID=1508&trans=off" /> |

1) Upload the Result Data File(s) 2) Report the Result = claim credit 3) validate the result = comparing to at least 2 other results, which means 2 other hosts have also to report their result. Therefore this can take some 10 days. 4) if validated, get credit. Read the News at the homepage Have a look at the Technical News Look if your question is not answered at the Boinc Wiki Best greetings, Thierry |
