I haven't been using BOINC very long, but I have noticed a few quirks that are irritating and may be bugs.

1. When it has trouble connecting it defers communications. This quickly escalates to ridiculous levels (days, weeks, etc). This is extremely frustrating, and seems unnecessary. Conceptually it's a good idea, but it escalates too high too quickly.

2. When some functions are excecuted, perhaps as simple as a restart of the application, it seems to lose track of old (unsent) results. For example, my computer calculated one particular result on 3/31/05 but hasn't sent it (and I know that it's been in communication several times since). I am leaving the file alone, but I suspect it is now an orphan.

3. Unlike some of my colleagues, I don't care about a graphical interface. I would like some tools to more easily extract the current status of the projects on which I am working. The current percent completion on the current cobblestone for starters. Also the status of cached cobblestones and unsent results. I know this data is within some of the support files (I've looked at them), but I'd like a tool to more easily report on them.

Thanks for the good work.

Hi

I fixed that by using Team MacNN client:

http://members.dslextreme.com/~readerforum/forum_team/boinc.html

Do not use it with MenuBar - not compatible.
If you need instructions how to use it - ask :)

Do you have to be a team member to use it?

I can't find any limitations to the use.
Just download client and proper worker to run it.
