Oh man, I read it and now regret it (my brain hurts). I'll just pretend it's something simple... lol > > What is "Recent Average Credit"? An easy way of thinking of RAC is a moving average based on the daily results from the previous 2 weeks. It's more complicated than that (as you can see on Paul's site), but as long as you haven't had any huge changes in rates of incoming credits, (such as adding a new computer, or the SETI not validating any credits for 4 days and then suddenly validating them all at once) it usually works pretty well. |

Ok, that's cool. I know the formula is more complex than this, but it's fairly close to a daily average of recent credits, yes?

Thanks to Tim (Captain Avatar) for my groovy Red Foxx avatar! |

> Ok, that's cool. I know the formula is more complex than this, but it's > fairly close to a daily average of recent credits, yes? THink of it as a speedometer ... It tracks the rate at which you are earning credit with credit earned today having more weight in the average than the credit granted in the past ... each day farther back the less impact on the average ... The thought is that it will not "jump" up and down ... some days I know I turn in a lot of work, but then, I have to wait for others to fill the Quorum of Results so I may not see a Grant for as long as a couple of weeks. So, I take it that the explanation is no good? [edit] I added the above couple lines, the next site update will have these as a prelude to the remaining explanation ... |
