I have a couple of questions to ask. I am having to give back one of my computers and I need to clean all BOINC software from it. So I would like to know if it is possible to allow the BOINC software to complete workunits and relay the results to the servers without it downloading additional workunits? Or do I just have to disable BOINC network access? If this is the case how do I keep it from downloading additional workunits?

My second question relates to the above in that can you just copy the BOINC files from one computer to another computer's BOINC directory? Or are there particular files I can copy?

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help.

To answer your second question first...moving from one computer to another will probably cause a project reset.

To let your WU cache run out, set your 'connect every x days' value to zero.

You can. The best approach (IMHO) would be the following:

1. install BOINC CC on the new host
2. stop BOINC on old and new hosts
3. copy over projects and slots directories with complete contents, all account*.xml files and client_state.xml file
4. run BOINC CC on the new host

You should be up and crunching already downloaded WUs. All projects should see your new computer as the old host.

After that, make sure you don't run BOINC on the old computer any more.

All of the above is true given you don't change OS and/or HW platform. Migrating from say Windows to Linux would be mighty complicated, but not impossible (I think).
