I'm sick and tired of debugging the seti client. No any work unit was accounted since 18 Mar 20005. So, instead of lloosing time, I switch to einstein only until someone fixes the buggy seti client. ALX |

Well, I'm into Folding@Home now, because I hate the Boinc/seti/Mac client. The F@H software is easy to use on the Mac OSX, there is also a screensaver version for those who like the Seti/Classic and would like to have a useful screensaver again. ;) |

It really pisses me off when someone says "there's a bug" and doesn't say what the bug is. |

IT REALLY PISSES ME WHEN SOMEONE DOES NOT KNOW WHAT IS TALKING ABOUT YET STILL THINKS HAS SOMETHING TO SAY! Could you spend 5 minutes and READ THE FORUM CAREFULLY instead of writing such a crap? I started the bug thread and I quit as it goes to nowhere. ALX |

I'm reading your post. It says "I'm sick and tired of debugging the seti client. No any work unit was accounted since 18 Mar 20005. So, instead of lloosing time, I switch to einstein only until someone fixes the buggy seti client." What bug? If you've mentioned it earlier, why not post the link? You don't even need to <a href=""> it. To your credit, you didn't stop crunching. > Could you spend 5 minutes and READ THE FORUM CAREFULLY instead of writing such a crap? Because you didn't spend two minutes of effort and post the bug. I don't see you having listed a single symptom here. As for "writing such a crap", I obviously can't compete with the likes of you. |

You say you read it? How about this: Posted: 31 Mar 2005 19:53:28 UTC [Edit this post] Hi there, apparently there is a bug in the client (used by Menu Bar): it corrupts remaining work units after uploading results. I saw this four or five times. The pattern is: - The client downloads couple of units (three in my example - I set exchange for 2 days), - after the first unit is completed, it uploads it's results, - then it DOES NOTHING but deferring communication with the project and increasing wait timer. The ~/Library/Application Support/Boinc Data/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/ folder contains the remaining units, but ~Library/Application Support/Boinc Data/slots/1/ is EMPTY (slot 1 because slot 0 is einstein on my machine). The only way to get ride of this is to reattach to the project loosing remaining work units. When I go to RESULTS statistics, I can see the unfinished units as I PROGRESS. But they're already gone. Who can fix that? ALX ID: 93382 |
