I've noticed that some of the participants have an avatar in their postings and also showing a box with there boinc project stats. Can anyone give me some pointers or help in creating my own?

Most of the off-site stats pages offer the boxes you see in my sig.

Avatars can be uploaded in your forum preferences in your account, where your sig is defined as well.
But you're restricted to this:
Avatar
The virtual representation of you on the message boards
Note: Forced size of 100x100 pixels
format: jpg/png - size: at most 4k

If you need any help with avatars, please contact Captain Avatar, he's offering help to the community.

BTW:
The (very good) manual for Boinc is the BOINC Powered Projects Documentation by Paul D. Buck and the FAQ therein.

Looks like the Avatar was the easy one. I'll play around with it a bit more until I find the right one. Thanks for the link on the boinc manual. Was reading the signature information until my head started swimming. guess 5:30 in the morning is a bit late to ingest that info.
