Hello!

I have participated in the SETI for almost 2 years now. I have over 3500 WU completed and contributed with over 16,500 hours of computer time. However, it seems my email address was not copied over to the new BOINC project. When I tried to activate it, it said there is no information on that email. So I created a new account with the same email. Of course, it is as if I have started from scratch as a brand new menber. I don't think this is fair. On the other hand, if I use the "classic" version, I get all the stats and everything with my normal email. Any ideas on how to transfer the credits properly?

When did you sign up for SETI Classic?? If it was before the screen shot of credits, it might not have been transferred over yet...

I signed up for SETI classic in june/july 2003, can't remember exactly when. What do you mean by "If it was before the screen shot of credits, it might not have been transferred over yet..."? More exactly, what "screen shot of credits"?

I think there's a bit of confusion here. Credits from the classic SETI@home aren't exactly "transferred" as much as noted as an extra piece of information in your new BOINC account. Everybody start BOINC at zero, because the system has completely changed and there's no way to translate classic credits into BOINC credits.

However, to be nice, will we note how much work people did in classic SETI@home in their new BOINC accounts (as long as their e-mail address remained the same during the transfer of user accounts). This is in a separate field called "SETI@home classic workunits".

Another however: We recently did another credit transfer. I actually didn't do this so it is unclear to me what actually happened, or if it is even finished yet (some users may still show old/incorrect values in this field). At any rate, there will be a point in the near future when the final SETI@home classic values will be definitively sync'ed up in their respective BOINC accounts.

Well, thank you very much. I logged in today in my new BOINC account and all the information is shown correctly. Thanks a lot!

G'day,
we're using the classic seti@home (with the green and red flashing dish) and the error of 16;0 keeps coming up. Data had been sent, nothing new coming in.
We have BOINC up and running. Do we now delete the classic seti from our system?

That's pretty much a judgement call ;) But I would say there's no point in keeping classic on your system anymore - classic is closing pretty soon, and you can't run boinc and classic at the same time anyway (unless you fiddle to the extremes...).

Ok, thanks! Will delete the old one soon. Just making a record in here of the stats for (hopeful) transfer.

You can't connect to any Seti servers at the momeny because of a fault. I run Boinc continuously, but also run Classic to process 1 work unit per day. They both work happily together on my new Win 2k machine, and did so on my old Win 95 machine.
