Hey there, I have tried to get a remote gui accessing my linux system running the latest public client avaiable for linux. i have done both the following: ./boinc -allow_remote_gui_rpc > boinc.log 2> error.log & and also tried creating a remote_hosts.cfg file with the hosts i want to be able to access the server in there. Both methods get me a "connection refused" error When displaying listening ports in a netstat on the machine the port its meant to listen on isn't listed there the machines has no firewall (the machine is on a network.... and the gateway server runs the filewall for the network) so local systems should have access to any listening port on the machine any ideas? am i doing something wrong? thanx |

> any ideas? am i doing something wrong? thanx Yes, you're posting your problem in the wrong place. You'd probably get a more useful answer if you were to post it in the unix section of the Q&A forum....The unix gurus would tend to keep an eye out there and they're the experts in this kind of thing. |

It might be caused by the frequent changes in Ports used to GUI_RPC in the recent BOINC Clients. V4.19 obeys to Port 31416 V4.25 obeys to Port 1043 Depending on what software you use, specific Client Versions also require a compatible Remote Software (e.g. BOINCview 0.92d for 4.19, while one must use BOINCview 1.0 for 4.25) More help should also be available here : http://boincview.amanheis.de/ |

It contains the machine name or IP address of each machine allowed to controll this machine one per line. I could not tell from your post whether you were creating the file on the controlling side or the controlled side. BOINC then needs to be restarted. BOINC WIKI |
