Anyone have a good Intel/AMD Mhz figuring source code - Non windows specific?

I've got one that mostly works, but can be as much as 50Mhz off. It uses generic system timers (one for Win, another for linux/etc) and the CPU cycle counter... but because even the Windows microsecond timer really only tics every 1/64 of a second it looses accuracy.

I've seen some that depend on specific x86 opcodes and how long they "should" take to complete...but as soon as intel or AMD releases a new CPU the code would have to be updated.
