Is it possible for me to download lets say 10 work units at a time and then only upload them when I am done.Want to try an optimise the time my PC has to process data, as I have a dialup and are not always there when work units are complete. So I loose processor time... :)

You set the number of workunits with the 'connect every x days' preference. This will attempt to download enough work to last between x and 2x days.

When you are not connected to the internet select 'disable BOINC network access' from the file menu of the manager. When you make a connection deselect this and BOINC will do whatever network stuff it has waiting.
