Thanks for mentioning Spamcop. I've been using it for years and it's cut down on my spam by a noticable amount. Go to www.spamcop.net and learn how you can easily (and for free!) report spam to the sysadmins and abuse departments of the ISP where the spam came from. For a small fee (about 30 bucks per year), you can also make use of email filtering (POP, IMAP, and webmail), as well as continuously updated blacklists that you can use if you want to protect your corporate email system from spam.

Also, join the Spamcop.net Seti team:

You will be assimilated...bunghole!

As a web and Mail host I'd like to add that using common names for email addresses is inviting trouble..

Spammers flood mail servers they find with mail to every known name in the world and then they start using random letter/number combinations. so if your email is sue@domainname.com you or sue1994@domainname.com you (or some other common name) will get flooded with spam mail.

Tell your ISP not to respond to spammers with a "you sent a spam message". All that does is tell the spammers they found a real address and from that point on they will do everything to get past spam filters.

At the very least your ISP should have the turned on the DNSBL (Domain Name Service Black List) in their mail servers. This is a list of Black Listed IP addresses.

I'd rather speak my mind because it hurts too much to bite my tongue.

I remember, way, way back in '96 or '97 when I got my first spam. They put an 800 number in it. I called it and got nothing. I have never clicked the "unsubscribe" links, even before I knew about them. I just deleted the e-mail.

If you respond to spam, they know that your e-mail address is actual.

I know that, Alex. All I did was called the 800 toll free phone number they listed in the spam.
