Thank you for a link to "BOINC Owner's Manual". Very nice, looks like "For dumies" kind of thing. Just started to read, but I'll read it all the way to the end. That's for sure. :)

It is what I live for ... :)

One of the things I have to warn you about, the content changes every week. I am in the process of working on the web site portion...

Next planned is the BOINC Owner's Manual (if the new BOINC Manager is stable), then the Glossary.

I like the compliment, and thank you. but even better I like you to tell me what is NOT good, I can fix that stuff, once I know where it is.

Also, the FAQ allows you to ask new questions, and to comment on old ones. I try to touch some of that every day too ...

My USUAL schedule is updates on Fridays, and if I get a lot done on the week end, or have significant comments that week end, on Monday. I am doing major behind the scenes surgery this week so the next scheduled update will be NEXT Friday.

I also answer my e-mail ... hard is that to believe ... :)

Although I'm not an educated computer expert, I'm a kind of self educated computer freak. It's my hobby and my passion. Since I bought my first computer and my first book ("PC for dummies") I realize that there is never too much of learning. So don't worry, I'll keep on track of your BOINC-guide, let you know about any comment I might have. Also will recomend it to members of my BOINC team.
Do not want to go off topic anymore (somebody might get mad), so next question or comment about your BOINC guide will go through an e-mail. Thanks for your help.

My first credits are finally here, yeah! And from today, my name is listed on my BOINC team list.

Simba finally rides!

Simba, the "number crunching" thread is for questions about getting you/other crunching. Most questions are perfectly fine to be posted here. there might be others who benefit from the answers that you get to your questions. So, by sticking to email Q and A then noone else in this community will benefit.

Feel free to post questions that help you crunch.

This topic is about validations, so I didn't want to post something that is not related to it. That's what I ment. I will post any Q & A to the "number crunching" thread, of course. :)

So, they get mad. Some of the people that get mad, get mad for very little reason ... Fact is, this is one of the few places I look at, mostly from a time perspective, so, if you have questions, post in this forum. Since everything has to do with us processing Work, or Number crunching, well, it is all on topic.

Cool ...

Tony, the only reason I offer e-mail is there are those questions that seem to attract, ahem, attention of the negative sort. Which is why I do make the offer. Also, making a comment in the FAQ area, or asking a new question also allows us to expand that area...

Giving me feedback here is also Ok ...

OK, let me demonstrate the greatness of Paul's website. I have read his page on HTML tags. I didn't know jack of HTML prior to reading his page.

he taught me to write in bold bold, and in italic italic. He even taught me to put a link in my text. Click to go to the main page Seti main page.

Thanks paul

For me, the thing I have enjoyed most in my life was teaching ... I love the "Ah, Ha!" moments when the lights come on. Way cool stuff ...

> Thanks paul

You are welcome.

My only regret is that I have struggled with is how to make it easy to find. Though, now I have phpDig on the site that makes it a lot simpler ...

And for those that have not looked, try a search on "HTML" and the first link ... :)

It was easy, I clicked on your "Click me", then clicked "Search", then entered "html tags" and the first item up was what I was looking for.

However, you have your A-Z pages and I can't find an easy way to pick a different letter. For example, I searched for SATA, and went to the "S" page, then I wanted to look up "ATA". I couldn't find an easy link to get to page "A". (note this was prior to the Search addition).

If I'm stuck with the wrong letter, I just change it manually in the adress in my browser:
http://boinc-doc.net/site-common/glossary/letter-s.php to:
http://boinc-doc.net/site-common/glossary/letter-a.php

But some kind of link to all letters at the top and/or bottom would be 'nice to have' nevertheless ;-)

It's looking better. The server status page seems to have a strange view of the whole situation: a bit like looking at the top of a rabbit hole where you can't see around the first bend. The trend is pretty good though, and when I look at individual results in my account it seems that the validator is picking up some of the "old and ripe" ones that have been waiting to be validated for a long time.

Many of the database entries seem to have been in some kind of "not-fully-committed" limbo on the old server and because of that they might not have shown up in any of the buckets of the server status page. They were "none of the above" and unaccounted for.

Yep, it looks like both OCUK and SETI Germany are going to get over 500,000 credits today, looking at the cobblebeat diagram (http://everyearthlyhour.com/boinc/chart/SETI_30189_30187_beat.png)

That's got to be about 3 times more credit than they ought to get every day - but obviously we have a lot to catch up on!
Hmmm... does this imply that the current server can only cope with 3 times the current users?

Ooh.. I just realised this is my 100th post!
