today we salute you, mr. pickled pigs feet eater

ignoring all you know about pigs, and where they live, and what they step in, you look at their pickled paws and say "yummy"

craving only the most daring meal, you pass up the cow tongue, skate by the head cheese, dismiss the rocky mountain oysters

but, a pigs foot soaked in pickle juice, now that's good eatin'

so crack open an ice cold bud light mr. pickled pigs feet eater, cuz it takes guts to eat those feet

And to think people get freaked out over eating sashimi. Would you like some hot wine with that? :)

I'd take 'em but I like my poisons undiluted: Black coffee, non-light cigarettes, and Black Forest Chocolate Cake made with raw sugar and rum!
[customers turn around looking at slice of delicious Black Forest cake... 30% break with Atkin's and have a slice, 40% begin drooling, 25% go back to their crummy beef jerky. The remaining 5% notice who's entered the room and shout...]
Hi, Lena! Long time no see! :-D

You know I had hoped this thread would be a serious discussion on better low bcarb foods, but I should know better...

Personally I would love eating a German Black Forrest Chocolate Cake, but doing so with it's orignal recipe could kill me..

At the very least it could ruin my kidneys, liver, eye sight, heart, ciculation, sexual function, decrease my bodies ability to fight off other dieases, stop my body from healing wounds and a dozen other things..

Diabetes is probably the most ignored deadly diease know to man. It's not listed as major cause of death because you will most likely die from a stroke, heart attack or some infectous diease and that will be listed as your cause of death..

Truth is 1 out 3 has some form of Diabetes. It should be listed as the leading cause of medical deaths.

Joke on people while I am serious about not letting the dragon defeat me I am strong enough to ignore the jokes..

Now if anyone has a serious low carb recipe they want to share please do so..

I'd rather speak my mind because it hurts too much to bite my tongue.

no disrespect intended celtic wolf,

my comment has more to do with the other health problems that are often ignored in the search for low carb foods....

more a comment on food fads and dieting in general. Not that many years ago, fried chunks of pig fat would have been abhorrent to the fadist trendwatchers raised on granola and whole wheat veggy diets.

Today, marketing has turned those chunks of fried pig fat into a 'low-carb' dietary fix for whatever might ail you.

I meant no disrespect for the thrust of the thread highlighting dietary constraints brought about by diabetes.

I regret that I have no close association with preparing restricted menus so that I can offer any suggestions individually tailored to your specific needs but my quoting from an old Bessie Smith song was meant to be taken as harmless sarcasm.

I don't even eat pig's feet,...... but maybe I will have a slug off the gin bottle, .....now. Know that I'm drinking to your good health.

thanks for holding the door...

is it all diet stuff in here?

I'm inclined to go for the extra fat and I love my starches....

Nothing like a good Hawaiian plate lunch, ....macaroni, rice, beans, slaw, chicken and ribs. Spam sushi and pineapple to top it off.

I don't want to get on the wrong side of the diet police here, so I'd best cool that kind of thing, eh?

Last time I was here there was some tsk , tsk, over my order of pickled pigs foot and a bottle of gin.

I guess I'll just have to adapt.
